Rome: Week 3

Oh man, oh man time has being FLYING by. Can you believe we only have 10 days left here in Rome?! Crazy town. Luke and I have been busy bees and yet I still feel like there are so many things we’ve yet to do here. Leaving here is going to be so hard. I’ve constantly reminded myself to not forgot how magnificently gorgeous this city is. Because when strip malls and car dealerships are replaced with stunning piazzas and works of Michelangelo… it’s easy to forget. Consistent beauty makes it difficult to truly appreciate it all. But, I’m working on it.

Speaking of ancient beauty… Luke and I visited the Colosseum and the nearby Forum and ruins yesterday. Here’s the deal people. Don’t come here midday. I think we did it right by coming around five o’clock and staying until close. By the time we were inside the amphitheater, the light was casting beautiful shadows and most tourists were high tailing it out of there.

After being flooded with feels at the Colosseum, we trekked over to the ruins at sunset. Again friends, I think going to see the ruins is best at this time. There’s an eery and kind of romantic aura to the scattered columns and stones. Also, bring a bottle of wine. That’s always a good idea. Side note: Luke and I had the best intentions of making a video of him opening a bottle with the ruins just slightly out of focus in the background… turns out that he broke the cork and our video just ended up us laughing at his embarrassment.

Other accomplishments of note: We visited the gorgeous hillside town, Spoleto (and forgot the camera), accumulated the beginnings of a city guide of Rome and eaten life changing crème brûlée. Luke’s become a master of using a guitar slide. I had a great Skype interview and feeling super embraced and welcomed into the blogosphere. Stay tuned, guys. More soon!
